I am doing:
Form Wizard - (next) -
enter account to connect to database server - (next) -
then I get the error message
libmysql.dll failed to start and returned error: (can't initialize character set utf8 (path: C:\mysql\\share\charsets\))

which is followed by instructions to down and install MySQL Connector/C, and enter path to libmysql.dll in Tools->Settings->External tools.



I have downloaded and installed MySQL Connector/C, and Tools appears to be correctly set to
library libmysql.dll -
Full path C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Connector C 6.0.2\lib\opt\libmysql.dll

But I still get the error above.

Any suggestions?

you can NOT use arbitrary libmysql.dll anymore. Now you have to install mysql connector and pick libmysql.dll from the path where it installs, nowhere else. Say thanks to Oracle. It's their quirk.

After you changed the path to DLL you have to restart the IDE.
