Nusphere phpEd 5.0.1 (Standard) Build 5029, on Windows XP Professional, networked (LAN) to Ubtunu Server 7.10 running vsftpd.

On the server we have /home/ftp/test/ - when interrogated from the Windows PC' s IE or command line using 'ftp severname', the directory 'test' appears as the base for ftp transfers.

Re phpED, irrespective of what values are put in its Project Properties 'Top Publishing Directory' and 'Root URL' lines and also in its Accounts 'Hostname or IP address' and 'Root directory' lines, attempting to Upload a file produces the response:

Root directory ........ does not exist. Check acount settings for ftp1.

....... dependant upon what's in the 'Root directory' line

ftp1 - name of account

Question:

With the server having an address of 192.168.1.2 and a path of /home/ftp/test/ to where I want to upload the files, what shoud be put in the Project Properties and Accounts forms? (Or other forms)

Hope someone can help - then I can get back to using phpEd which I quite like.

Many thanks,

IvanR

Ivan, based on the information your provided, I think you should use the following:

In the Account settings (Tools / Accounts):
* Host name or IP address: 192.168.1.2
* Root directory: /
* Login name & password: As relevant

In your Project settings (Project / Project Properties):
* Top publishing directory: /

I think you need to specify / for bot the root directory (account) the top publishing directory (project) become /home/ftp/test/ is the home directory for the particular FTP user. The FTP server takes care of changing to /home/ftp/test/, and therefore PhpED does not need to change the directory once logged in.

I hope this helps Wink
