Use existing WSDL file when creating server

The various examples I have found concerning using NuSoap library with WSDL all show how to create a new server and configure a WSDL from an array provided to the configureWSDL call. But I have to work with a very large WSDL file provided to me by another organization. I am having problems creating a new soap_server and having it use that wsdl. I will also have the client use the same WSDL is creating the request message, of course.
Does someone have a simple example of client and server code that illustrates this? I tried specifying the wsdl on the new soap_server call but that does not seem to "register" the specific call. When I call register on the server I get an error about using register when using a wsdl.
A good example end-to-end would be VERY helpful.
Thanks so much!!
