"System is low on virtual memory"/v5.9.5(5974)

Hi,

just wanted to share my experience:

After upgrading PhpED from
v5.9.5 Build 5970 to
v5.9.5 Build 5974

I get this popup "System is low on virtual memory..."
http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Tsuqpr9

At first, the popup showed up when I initially opened the project.
Then I added some project dirs to "hidden dirs", as suggested in the popup.
This worked for some hours, then the popup showed up again.

My Environment:
PHPEd is used on a PC with Win XP Pro, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB Virtual Memory, CPU 2.8 GHz Intel Dualcore

My Projects:
Typo3 CMS-Websites, hosted on a LAMP System in my LAN.
I'm using PHP 5.3
A Typo3-Project typically consists of >= 1000 php files with an average size of 20 KB each.

Outlook:
I've gone back to v5.9.5 Build 5970, everything works fine.
But surely I don't want to miss any future updates of PhpED.
On the other hand: maybe this is specific to my developement environment and not
a fault of Build 5974.

Any hint and suggestions are welcome.
Have a nice weekend!

PhpED takes care of free memory available for the work. As soon as system
memory allocated by all the running tasks is close to the system limits
(80% or above), IDE shows that warning, suggests to save your work, and
stops internal parser to avoid further problems.

If you work with huge projects, it makes sense to hide directories with
images, cache, templates etc whatsoever you don't need to work on
immediately.

Also you may want to check that at least 40% of system memory is free
(commit charge 60% or less) when you launch the IDE. Run taskmanager and
switch to Performance tab to see the details in Commit Charge box. To free
up the memory, swith to Processes tab in taskmanager and click on Mem
Usage column to sort the tasks by memory they allocated. Don't forget to
check "show processes from all users" or you'll see only partial
information. Then find the application consuming the most memory and check
it or stop it. You can also enable Virtual Memory column in View->Select
Columns and check applications demanding a lot of virtual memory.

Solved: Upgraded from 1GB RAM to 3 GB RAM

Details:
1. Checked memory usage, like suggested by support.

2. Obviously 1 GB RAM is not enough, when working with my usual applications (Firefox, PHPEd, Photoshop).
See pink boxes in this Screenshot

3. Conclusion:
The problem has nothing to do with PHPEd.
The problem is on my PC. It has to few RAM.
After upgrading from 1 GB RAM to 3 GB RAM, everything is working fine.

cheers uwe

I think it's something to do with the newer builds.

I've received the warning box a couple times on projects that I've never had problems with before, (with the same PC usage as before as well.)

If I begin to encounter it more often, I'll submit a bug report. For now I'll just wait it out and see if any of the future builds fix it.
