Has anyone tried using RDP on a Surface Pro 4 connecting to a desktop computer that has a 4k monitor while using PhpED?

Due to the high res. display on the Surface Pro, the end result within PhpED is text that is so small it is very hard to read. Yes it is clear due to the awesome display on the Surface Pro, but just tiny. All other applications work properly and scale correctly between the Surface Pro and the desktop over RDP, but it seems that PhpED doesnt adhere to the scaling specifications within windows properly.

I would attempt to submit a ticket here, but can almost imagine the response back on this one. The only way to reproduce it is by actually using a Surface Pro over RDP to a 4k desktop machine.

I have tried various screen settings on both the surface and the desktop to no avail.

this has nothing to do with RDS. It's all about 4k (or any other hi) resolution. You may want to allow OS to re-scale application to adapt it to this resolution.
