Oh I know that works, but I hate to add the extra global declarations in when I don't have to. It makes my function libraries a lot less readable.

I didn't find this in a search, but if this is a duplicate, I apologize.

I'd kill to see some sort of builtin macro to 'de-educate' smart quotes (convert ’ to ' and so forth).
