It seems that the ide sometimes forgets the layout of the ide (toolbar options tab menu's etc...)and starts with a blank one where only the editor is visible.
Choose different tab or toolbar settings and exit phped cleanly, next time it is back to default again...
I use it from version 3.3 on xp and upto now i have never seen this behaviour.

It is a common mistake.
If you turn IDE into FullScreen mode and make any GUI layout changes, they will not be remembered!
Indeed, when IDE turns into FullScreen, it unpins all dockable windows and removes _everything_ to provide as much space to the editor as possible.

I'm sorry Dmitri, however i was not speaking about the fullscreen function...
To my knowledge it happens only on vista 64.
change the layout of one panel and the other panels don't get updated propperly.
for instance scrollbars disapear, i made a screenshot and send it to support
