Firefox toolbar for DBG available

Hello everyone, I have uploaded a toolbar to assist with PHP debugging in Firefox. It works in a similar fashion to the NuSphere IE toolbar and should work fine with any client using DBG. It is currently awaiting approval on Mozilla extensions, but is taking a long time to go live ( I guess due to the fact it is quite a specialised thing to test)

It works on FF1.5 up to 2.0b

You may download the toolbar from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3227

This URL will disappear once Mozilla approve the extension.

Hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes at NuSphere (I couldn't wait any longer!)

Thanks for your great efforts.
Please submit license terms too, otherwise it's unclear who and how may use your toolbar.

Thanks in advance,
Dmitri.

Many thanks Dimitri, as a Firefox fan I couldn't bring myself to use IE for all my testing, but DBG is so handy.

The Toolbar is totally free for anyone to use.

Copyright 2006 Ian Flory. All rights reserved.

The toolbar is not opensource nor is it allowed to be distributed if modified.

I hope this covers it off for the moment. Once Mozilla approve the toolbar, it will be available from their site with proper version update checking etc.

That's great! Congratulations iflo.

Now joining phpEd, Firefox, and the extensions Webdeveloper, Firebug and this new DBG toolbar, I have everything I need Smile

Hi,

First thank you for this wonderful extension. I am having some difficulty in killing profile sessions. using the kill debug boutton does not seem to do anything and i must restart firefox to be able to stop debugging. Not a total disaster but a minor inconvienience.

thanks,

Hi bryxal, glad you like it. The kill debug session does not instantly kill off a debug session that you have running in PhpED for example. You will need to finish the session in PhpED first then end the session. Perhaps 'kill debug session' is misleading - it just tells the server dll to stop debugging (on next post/refresh etc) then deletes off the debug cookie. It's essentially a slightly stronger version of unchecking 'debug session'

Just noticed you mentioned killing Profile sessions - can you send me details on whats happening - is the profiler in PhpED hanging?

I am having problems downloading the XPI from your site. When I install, I get an error stating "invalid hash, probably corrupted download" I've tried getting the file a few times.

Firefox,v1.5.0.7

Looking forward to using it!

Please note that the Firefox extension has been approved by Mozilla and is now downloadable from the Firefox extensions site. You can get it from here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3227/

I will now kill off the page on my site.

Just wanted to drop a line expressing my appreciation for this great toolbar extension. I exclusively use Firefox and have found this PHPDebugger to be quite useful.

cheers

Thanks for this perfect extention!!! I don't like to work with IE. And together with the web developer toolbar extention of FF it is the perfect combination to develop and debug a website.

Just one remark, it only works on localhost. My PC is called "fhs" , and I always type this as address (because it is shorter and I'm a lazy guy Smile ). This toolbar doesn't detect that this is also connected to 127.0.0.1.

I can not debug PHP with PHP Debugger toolbar!?

Dear Hi,

I installed PHPdebugger toolbar for Firefox available as an extension,

but cannot use it, or don't know how. I get the following error:

Code:
DBG

Failed to start debug session

reason:
failed to establish connection to client host on 127.0.0.1:7869

When I run <? phpinfo(); ?> I get info that DBG is installed:

DBG php debugger, version 2.11.32, Copyright 2001, 2005, Dmitri

Dmitrienko, www.nusphere.com

Which, I think, means that DBG module extension is installed properly.

Then what is wrong?

I am not using NuSpher's PhpEd IDE and don't want to purchase it. Do you

know whether I can debug my php scripts without PhpEd IDE, but only with

DBG module and with FireFox PHPdebugger toolbar? What is the role of

dbg-2.13.1-cli-w32.zip (Listener or Client)? I don't know what it is used

for.

I am new to php debugging and I'll appreciate any help, because I really

need to learn how to debug my php scripts.

Thank you!
