Editing JS has suddenly become very slow

Anyone know why very recently editing JS files has become painfully slow. I have ver 16.x and a few days ago this started to happen. With every keystroke i get throbber popping up but no indication of what is processing (like scanning explorer tree). I upgraded to 17.x and the problem remains.

Editing PHP files is fine.

Did you change anything in your project? Added more files?
Open tools->settings->code completion, try to turn off "Auto-show code insight" on Javascript tab.
