ive tried webdav.... cant get it to work efficiently

ive tried cvs... too much of a hassle

i am continuing the everlasting conquest to find a developer-friendly checkin/checkout system. many people have posted in this forum looking for something that can mimic dreamweavers checkin/checkout system.

my question is this...
is there a way to extend phped to use an external ftp client? there are many free and open source ftp clients that handle the checkin/checkout processes. if we could get phped to use one of these external clients, our prayers will have been answered.

another question is...
why is it that phped is as robust as it is an it doesnt support simple checkin/checkout for team dev? isnt it just as simple as writing a .lck file (like dreamweaver) or writing a ,v binary (like cvs) to checkout and deleting said file/binary to checkin?

Forgive me for being inept.

In all that you've said that you've "given up" on, I wanted to remind you to give up on SVN from the shell menu too. Although I use that routinely to checkin/checkout files from my versioning respositories, it may not suit your needs either.

Please disregard my posts.
